Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
The purpose of the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is to administer and enforce the statutory authority and to monitor the needs of the consuming public. The board examines and licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of speech-language pathology and audiology. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality. The board conducts formal hearings when necessary and prosecutes by due process any violators of KRS 334A.
The board is a self-supporting agency and receives no general fund tax appropriation. It is funded entirely through fees assessed for licensing its professionals.

Notice for licensees renewing for the first time:
Please be aware that you are exempt from continuing education pursuant to 201 KAR 17:090 Section 1 (5). When completing your online renewal, please put “exempt-first year” under the CE workshop name. You will then need to enter today’s date, as well as “15” under hours obtained.
All licensees that are not renewing for the first time are required to list 15 hours of continuing education. If you are being audited this year, you have to submit proof of hours obtained to the board, or your renewal will not be approved.

When completing the Praxis exam, please ensure you are selecting the correct code for the Kentucky Board for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Our code number is 7287.
NOTE: Effective immediately all applications and documentation must be received in the board office 10 business days prior to the board meeting date to be put on the agenda (except during renewal cycles). If this deadline is not met, it will automatically be added to the next month's agenda. Following board meetings please allow up to two weeks for follow-up correspondence.
